Quick answers for Massachusetts
- Listings on this page: 69 across 5 areas.
- Most bingo: Fall River, the South Shore and Cape Cod (21 listings).
- Busiest day: Thursday (13 games on our day pages).
- Minimum age: 18, and nobody younger may be in the room while the game is played.
- Prize limit: $100 for a regular game, $500 for a special game, $1,200 for a 50-50 game and $3,000 for a progressive jackpot.
How we check: we compare each game with the organizer’s own page or a published listing where one exists, and we say so when we could not confirm a detail. Last checked: October 2026. Official source: Massachusetts General Laws chapter 10, section 38 (malegislature.gov). Seen a change? Tell us and we will fix it.
In Massachusetts, charity bingo is officially called Beano. It is the same game, run by parishes, Elks lodges, Knights of Columbus councils and veterans posts under a license from the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission. The biggest cluster of games is around Springfield and Chicopee.
There are more on the South Shore, in Worcester County and in the towns around Boston, but the Commission lists only one game inside Boston itself. Last checked: October 2026. You will find 64 licensed games here. For 20 of them we checked the organizer’s own website, calendar or parish bulletin (one against a September 2026 newspaper notice).
The other 44 come straight from the Commission’s list of licensed games. That list does not always match the hall’s own start times, and one parish on it has paused its game. Halls change nights, so a quick call before a long drive is wise.
What does a night add up to when a regular game pays up to $100 and a progressive up to $3,000? And what does a parish or lodge keep after the 5% state tax? Try the bingo payout calculator.
Massachusetts Bingo at a Glance
- Beano or bingo: the same game: Massachusetts law calls it Beano, and the Commission writes Bingo (Beano)
- Who regulates it: the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission, through its Charitable Gaming Division
- Minimum age: 18, and nobody younger may be in the room while the game is played
- Main prize limit: $100 for a regular game, $500 for a special game, $1,200 for a 50-50 game and $3,000 for a progressive jackpot
- Games on this page: 64 licensed games (20 with full details, 44 from the Commission’s list), with the biggest cluster in Chicopee, Springfield and the towns around them
- Last checked: October 2026
Each region has two kinds of listing. Games with a full block were checked against the organizer’s own page. Where that page and the Commission’s list disagree, we show both and say which is which. The tables underneath copy the Commission’s list as it stood in October 2026.
Their addresses, licensed days and times and phones are the Commission’s, and we have not checked them with the hall. Most Massachusetts halls do not post their prices, so you will see prices only where the hall gives them.

On the North Shore, the Knights of Columbus halls in Lynn and Peabody have games. St. Joseph Parish in Malden paused its bingo on June 8, 2026. The state list still shows it, but we have left it out.

Two games readers may look for are not in the listings above. St. Joseph Parish at 790 Salem Street in Malden put its bingo on pause from June 8, 2026 until further notice. The Commission’s list marks the Knights of Columbus #69 game at 460 Granby Road in Chicopee as inactive.
Massachusetts Bingo Rules
- Who regulates it: the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission, through its Charitable Gaming Division, licenses and regulates Bingo (Beano) under Massachusetts General Laws chapter 10, sections 37 to 40
- Who may run it: nonprofits that have existed for at least five years: religious, fraternal and veterans organizations, volunteer fire companies and ambulance services, nonprofit athletic associations and other nonprofit corporations; the city or town must have voted to allow beano, and the license costs $50 a year
- How often: each licensed organization may play on two days a week, one between 6:00pm and midnight and the other between 1:00pm and 6:00pm
- Prize limits: $100 for a regular game (bonus cards can raise a prize by up to 100 percent), $500 for a special game, two winner-take-all games a day with no single prize over $500, four 50-50 games a day with no single prize over $1,200, two progressive jackpots that build to no more than $3,000, and door prizes of up to $200 in total
- Minimum age: 18; nobody under 18 may be in the part of the building where the game is being played, and the law gives no exception for children with an adult
- Alcohol: none may be sold, served or drunk in the bingo area during the game
- Pull tabs and tax: the Commission supplies the charity game tickets (pull tabs) sold at licensed games, and the organization, not the player, pays a 5% tax on its gross receipts
- Senior club games: clubs for people 60 and older may run beano for their own members without a license if they hold an identification number from the Commission, charge no more than $5 and award prizes of no more than $100
The prize limits, the age rule and the two-day limit are in Massachusetts General Laws chapter 10, section 38. The Commission keeps its list of licensed games on its Bingo Locations by Town/City page. Its bingo FAQs answer common questions, and its main line is 781-849-5555. The Commission’s own bingo page still quotes 2018 figures, so the counts here come from its 2025 annual report.
