South Carolina bingo is charity bingo played in commercial-style halls: a nonprofit holds the license from the South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) and often hires a promoter to run the game several days a week. Last checked: October 2026. The 22 games below were checked against the hall’s or organizer’s own website, 15 of them halls run by one operator, Mr. Bingo, and 20 more are directory leads we could not confirm. We could not confirm a game in Charleston itself, in Spartanburg, in Florence or the rest of the Pee Dee, or around Hilton Head and Beaufort; the Charleston-area halls are in North Charleston, Goose Creek and Ladson. Most hall sites post opening hours instead of game times and very few post prices, so call before you drive.

Columbia and Midlands Bingo Halls
Three Mr. Bingo halls sit side by side at 1470, 1472 and 1474 Charleston Highway in West Columbia and open on different days, so a hall is open on that strip every day of the week. The same operator has halls on Decker Boulevard in Columbia and on Thomas Sumter Highway in Sumter. For every Mr. Bingo hall on this page, the times are opening hours from the operator’s hall finder, not game times, and the operator posts no pack prices or age rule. Most of its hall pages were last updated in December 2024, and the Georgetown and Greer Beach Bingo pages in May 2022, so phone the hall for the first game time and the cost.

The halls we confirmed near Charleston are north of the city, in North Charleston, Goose Creek and Ladson. All four are Mr. Bingo halls, so the times are again opening hours. Catawba Bingo in Rock Hill, the Catawba Indian Nation’s hall, closed in May 2017, and we found no tribal bingo hall operating in South Carolina. Directories also show Mr. Bingo halls in Conway, in Cayce and on Ashley Hall Road in Charleston, but the operator’s own site no longer lists a hall in any of those places, so we left them out.
South Carolina Bingo Rules
- Who regulates it: the South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR), through its Bingo Licensing and Enforcement Section, under the Bingo Tax Act of 1996
- Who can run it: nonprofit charitable, religious or fraternal organizations that have been registered in South Carolina for at least three years; each holds one license for one location and may hire a licensed promoter to manage the game
- Class B games: up to $8,000 in prizes per session and up to five sessions a week, with a required $5 entrance fee per player
- Class C games: $20 or less per game, plus up to six jackpot games per session paying no more than $150 each; up to seven days a week, with no entrance fee
- Other licenses: Class AA games pay $50,000 to $250,000 a session but play once a month with an $18 entrance fee; volunteer-run Class E and F games are capped at $4,000 a session and one session a week
- Session hours: one session a day, no longer than 12 hours, held only between 12:00pm and 2:00am; state and county fairs are exempt
- Minimum age: neither the Bingo Tax Act nor SCDOR’s bingo pages set one, so each hall makes its own rule
- Pull tabs and electronics: SCDOR says selling pull-tabs is illegal, with a $5,000 penalty for a first offense; electronic dabbers are allowed, one per player
SCDOR explains the license classes on its bingo page, and the full text is in Title 12, Chapter 21, Article 24 of the South Carolina Code. At least half of the card sales at each session must go back to players as prizes. SCDOR does not publish a list of licensed games, so we could not check any hall on this page against a license record. A bar or business without a license may hold bingo only if it is free for anyone to play.
South Carolina Bingo FAQ
Is bingo legal in South Carolina?
Yes. Bingo is legal in South Carolina when a nonprofit organization runs it under a license from the South Carolina Department of Revenue. The law is the Bingo Tax Act of 1996. Many nonprofits hire a licensed promoter to manage the game, so most games are in commercial bingo halls.
Where can I play bingo in South Carolina?
We confirmed 22 South Carolina games for October 2026. They are in West Columbia, Columbia, Sumter, North Charleston, Goose Creek, Ladson, Walterboro, Greenville, Greer, Gaffney, Longs, Myrtle Beach, Georgetown, Rock Hill, Clover and Aiken. Fifteen of them are Mr. Bingo halls, which post opening hours but not game times.
How much can a bingo game pay in South Carolina?
It depends on the license class. A South Carolina Class B game can pay up to $8,000 in prizes per session. A Class C game is limited to $20 a game plus up to six jackpots of $150, and a Class AA game pays between $50,000 and $250,000 in a session but may play only once a month.
How old do you have to be to play bingo in South Carolina?
South Carolina’s Bingo Tax Act and the Department of Revenue’s bingo pages do not set a minimum age, so each hall makes its own rule. Clover Bingo and Carolina Bingo in Rock Hill do not allow children under 10, Aiken Senior Life Services requires anyone under 18 to be with an adult, and North Myrtle Beach Bingo says players of all ages are welcome. Ask the hall before you bring a child.
Why do South Carolina bingo halls charge an entrance fee?
State law requires it for some licenses. A South Carolina Class B bingo game must charge each player a $5 entrance fee, and a Class AA game must charge $18. Class C games have no entrance fee, and the fee is separate from the price of your cards.
Are pull tabs sold at South Carolina bingo halls?
No. The South Carolina Department of Revenue says the sale of pull-tabs is illegal, whether staff sell them or a machine dispenses them, with a $5,000 penalty for a first offense. Electronic dabbers are legal in South Carolina, limited to one per player.
Why call before I go?
Most South Carolina hall listings give opening hours, not the time the first game is called, and pack prices are rarely posted. Halls in the same plaza often split the week between them, so the door you want may be closed on the night you drive over. A call confirms the day, the start time and the cost.
