Bingo Hall Guide for Minnesota

Bingo in Minnesota is charity bingo: veterans posts, lodges and other nonprofits run the games under a Minnesota Gambling Control Board license, and much of it is bar bingo played at American Legion and VFW posts, Eagles clubs and neighborhood bars. Seven tribal casinos, from Mystic Lake near the Twin Cities to Seven Clans at Red Lake, run bingo sessions of their own, and Shooting Star Casino sends a teleconference game to bars around Mahnomen. Last checked: October 2026. The 26 games below were checked against the organizer’s or casino’s own website, and 20 more are older leads; none of the 26 is inside Minneapolis, St. Paul or Duluth city limits, where we could not confirm a game. Several of these games are seasonal or skip weeks, and many posts do not publish their prices, so phone before you drive.

One well known metro game has ended. Bloomington Knights of Columbus Bingo, at 1114 American Blvd W, now carries a notice on the organizer’s own page that reads NO MORE BINGO and thanks players for more than 60 years of support. Older national lists also name Pot O’Gold Bingo in Arden Hills, Carousel Bingo in Brooklyn Park and a few other metro halls; we found no current source for any of them, so they are not listed here.

Minnesota Bingo Rules

  • Who regulates it: the Minnesota Gambling Control Board, under Minnesota Statutes chapter 349, which treats bingo, raffles, paddlewheels, tipboards and pull-tabs as lawful gambling
  • Who can run it: licensed fraternal, religious, veterans and other nonprofit organizations; the organization itself must staff and run the bingo occasion
  • Prize limits: $500 for a single game; cover-all games may pay more as long as all cover-all prizes in the occasion total no more than $2,000; a progressive game may start at up to $500 and build to $2,000; a hot-ball prize is capped at $500 per occasion
  • Minimum age: 18; someone younger may play only at a game that is exempt or excluded from licensing, or at an annual community event with a parent or guardian
  • Bar bingo: the board’s term for a bingo occasion at a premises that sells on-sale liquor or 3.2 percent malt beverages and also has another form of lawful gambling; no rent may be paid for the occasion
  • Session length: no limit on the number of games, but a bingo occasion may not last longer than eight consecutive hours
  • How to pay: cash; a licensed organization may not accept checks or debit cards for bingo
  • Games without a license: bingo at a county fair, the state fair or a civic celebration for up to 12 consecutive days, bingo by a group that plays four or fewer days a year, and small games at nursing homes, senior housing and senior organizations that pay no more than $10 a game and $200 an occasion

The Gambling Control Board sets out these rules in the bingo chapter of its lawful gambling manual, and the prize limits are in Minnesota Statutes section 349.211. Bingo at the tribal casinos on this page is run by the tribes, not by organizations the board licenses, and the limits above are written for licensed organizations. The Minnesota Department of Revenue says gambling winnings are subject to federal and Minnesota income tax and must be reported even if you did not get a federal Form W-2G.

Minnesota Bingo FAQ

Is bingo legal in Minnesota?

Yes. Bingo is one of the five forms of lawful gambling in Minnesota Statutes chapter 349, and it is run by fraternal, religious, veterans and other nonprofit organizations licensed by the Minnesota Gambling Control Board. Tribal casinos in Minnesota also run bingo halls of their own.

How old do you have to be to play bingo in Minnesota?

You must be 18 to play at a licensed Minnesota bingo game. State law lets someone under 18 play only at a game that is exempt or excluded from licensing, or at an annual community event when a parent or guardian is with them. Black Bear, Jackpot Junction and Seven Clans casinos also state a minimum age of 18.

What is the biggest prize a Minnesota charity bingo game can pay?

Under Minnesota Statutes section 349.211, a single bingo game may pay up to $500. Cover-all games may pay more as long as all cover-all prizes in the occasion total no more than $2,000, and a progressive game may build to $2,000. Casino bingo is run by the tribes rather than by licensed charities; Mystic Lake advertises bonanza jackpots up to $150,000.

What is bar bingo in Minnesota?

The Minnesota Gambling Control Board describes bar bingo as a bingo occasion held at a premises that sells on-sale liquor or 3.2 percent malt beverages and where another form of lawful gambling also takes place. A licensed organization runs the game and no rent may be paid for the occasion. In Minnesota you find it at American Legion and VFW posts, Eagles clubs and neighborhood bars.

Which Minnesota casinos have bingo?

In October 2026 these Minnesota casinos posted bingo sessions on their own sites: Mystic Lake in Prior Lake, Treasure Island in Welch, Black Bear in Carlton, Grand Casino Hinckley, Grand Casino Mille Lacs in Onamia, Jackpot Junction in Morton and Seven Clans in Red Lake. Shooting Star in Mahnomen has no bingo hall: it runs teleconference bingo on Mondays and Fridays that is played in area bars and at its Bagley casino, and not at the Mahnomen casino itself from October 16, 2026. The sites for Fortune Bay, Prairie’s Edge and Northern Lights listed no bingo.

Can I pay for bingo with a debit card in Minnesota?

Not at a licensed charity game. Minnesota Statutes section 349.2127 says an organization may not accept checks or debit cards for a chance to take part in lawful gambling other than a raffle, so bring cash. Foxhole Bingo Lounge in Maplewood, for example, takes cash only and has a cash machine on site.

Why call before I go?

Many Minnesota games are seasonal or change from week to week. The Rochester Eagles stop bingo from late April to early October, Chanhassen’s American Legion called off its October 14, 2026 game, Shooting Star paused bingo at its Mahnomen casino from October 16, 2026, and casino sessions can be cancelled in bad weather. A phone call confirms the day, the start time and the pack price.
