Bingo Hall Guide for North Carolina

Cash bingo in North Carolina has to be run by a licensed nonprofit, and the games we confirmed belong to VFW posts, an Elks lodge, a Knights of Columbus council and an Army recreation hall at Fort Bragg that is closed to the general public. Last checked: October 2026. This is a short list: we confirmed 8 games, seven against the organizer’s own website and one against a 2026 newspaper calendar, and ten more are unconfirmed leads in the tables near the bottom. We could not confirm a game in the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Cary) or inside the city limits of Charlotte, Greensboro, Wilmington or Asheville, so the confirmed halls are in nearby towns. Several halls post no card prices, only one posts an age rule, and most of their pages are undated, so phone before you drive.

Charlotte Area Bingo Halls

Two VFW posts near Charlotte put their weekly bingo on their own websites: Indian Trail plays on Thursday and Gastonia on Friday. Both say the game is open to the public. We could not confirm a game inside the Charlotte city limits; one Charlotte lead is in the table further down.

    • The post gives its location only as this street corner. Map listings show 4675 Hampton Rd, which is not on the post’s own site.

Fayetteville and Sandhills Bingo Halls

We confirmed two games here. The VFW post in Hope Mills plays two Saturdays a month, and Fort Bragg has an Army recreation bingo hall that is not open to the public: it admits only DoD ID cardholders and their guests. Wilmington and Coast Bingo Halls

We confirmed one game on the coast, at the Elks lodge in Oak Island in Brunswick County. We could not confirm a current game in Wilmington itself. Two Wilmington lodges were reported to run weekly bingo in 2024, and you will find both under More North Carolina Bingo Listings.

Asheville and Mountain Bingo Halls

We confirmed two games in the mountains: a Monday game at the VFW post in Waynesville and a Knights of Columbus game at a church hall in Jefferson, in Ashe County. We could not confirm a game in Asheville itself, though one Asheville VFW post is among the unconfirmed listings.

More North Carolina Bingo Listings

Most of these come from map listings and the reviews on them, not from an organizer’s own page. The two Wilmington lodges come from an April 2024 magazine article. None is confirmed for 2026, so treat them as leads and call first.

The next four are beach bingo parlors, which are commercial games where no prize can be more than $10. They are not charity bingo. All four were on the state’s 2022 list of licensed beach bingo locations, the only official list we found, and none is confirmed for 2026. The phone numbers come from map listings at the same address.

Cherokee Tribal Bingo is not listed on this page because it closed in 2020 and never reopened. The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians has no bingo hall open today. The tribe broke ground in February 2026 on a new hall in Cherokee called The Boundary Bingo & Slots. In April 2026 the tribe’s newspaper reported that it was still scheduled to open in summer 2027.

North Carolina Bingo Rules

  • Who regulates it: the Alcohol Law Enforcement Division (ALE) of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, under General Statutes sections 14-309.5 to 14-309.14
  • Who can run it: only a licensed tax-exempt nonprofit that has existed in the county for at least one year, such as a charity, church, civic or fraternal group, veterans’ post, volunteer fire department or rescue squad
  • License: $200 a year, good for one year and renewable
  • How often: no more than two sessions a week for each organization, each up to five hours long and at least 48 hours apart; one building can host no more than two sessions a week
  • Prize limits: $500 for any one game, in cash or merchandise, and $1,500 for a session, or $2,500 for the session where only one is held that week
  • Minimum age: the bingo law we read sets none, and halls set their own; the Fort Bragg hall requires 18
  • Open games: a game that admits anyone beyond members, their spouses and their children must be open to the general public
  • Beach bingo: a separate commercial game with its own state license, where no prize can be worth more than $10; it does not have to be run by a charity and cannot be held at a charity bingo location

The limits are in Chapter 14, Article 37 of the General Statutes, and ALE describes the license on its bingo page. The session and prize limits do not apply to bingo at an agricultural fair. The ALE page still quotes license counts from 2014, so we took the figures above from the statute text, where the newest change cited for the bingo sections is from 2020.

North Carolina Bingo FAQ

Is bingo legal in North Carolina?

Yes, when a licensed nonprofit runs it. Charities, churches, civic and fraternal groups, veterans’ posts, volunteer fire departments and rescue squads can apply to Alcohol Law Enforcement for a license, which costs $200 a year.

How much can you win at bingo in North Carolina?

State law caps the prize for one game at $500. All the prizes at one session can total $1,500, or $2,500 if the organization holds only one session that week. Beach bingo parlors are capped at $10 a prize.

Is there a minimum age to play bingo in North Carolina?

The state bingo law we read does not set one, so each hall makes its own rule. Ask before you bring children. The Army hall at Fort Bragg requires players to be 18.

Where can I play bingo near Raleigh or Charlotte?

We could not confirm a game in Raleigh, Durham or Cary, or inside the Charlotte city limits. Near Charlotte, VFW Post 2423 in Indian Trail plays on Thursday and VFW Post 9337 in Gastonia plays on Friday. The Triangle entries on this page are unconfirmed leads in the listings tables.

Is Cherokee Tribal Bingo open?

No. The tribe’s newspaper reports that the old Cherokee bingo hall closed in 2020 and never reopened. The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is building a new one, The Boundary Bingo & Slots, and in April 2026 it was still scheduled to open in summer 2027.

What is beach bingo in North Carolina?

Beach bingo is a commercial game played for prizes of $10 or less, in cash or in merchandise that cannot be turned in for cash. It has its own state license and does not have to be run by a charity. It is a different game from the VFW, Elks and church hall bingo on this page.

Why call before I go?

This is a short list, and most of the hall pages carry no date. The Gastonia post gives two sets of times, the Oak Island lodge posts no start time, and the Fort Bragg page was last updated in 2024. A short call settles it before a long drive.
