California has two kinds of bingo: charity games, which Elks lodges, veterans posts, youth groups and other nonprofits run under a license from their city or county, and tribal casino bingo halls, which run under federal Indian gaming law and tribal rules instead of a local license. Last checked: October 2026. The 29 games below, 15 charity games and 14 casino bingo halls, were checked against the organizer’s or venue’s own website, poster or bulletin, and 13 more are older leads. We could not confirm a charity hall in San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento or Fresno, which does not mean there are none. Several schedules come from undated pages, so call before you drive.

Florin Road Bingo in Sacramento is gone: local news reported in October 2020 that it had closed for good. We also found no current source for Sacramento Bingo Center or for The Bingo Club in Hawaiian Gardens, and the old web addresses for both now show unrelated sites, so do not rely on them.
California Bingo Rules
- Who licenses it: cities and counties, under Article IV, Section 19 of the state constitution and Penal Code section 326.5; there is no statewide charity bingo license
- Who can run it: tax-exempt nonprofits, senior citizens organizations, mobilehome park associations and charities affiliated with a school district, and the receipts must go to charitable purposes
- Who works the game: only members of the licensed organization, who may not be paid for it; security staff are the one exception
- Prize limit: $500 in cash or kind for each separate game
- Players: minors may not take part, and you must be physically present where the game is held
- Cards and devices: bingo is played on a tangible card with numbers announced by a live caller; pull tabs are covered too, and players in the room may use hand-held card-minding devices that track called numbers on cards they have bought
- Local fees: a city or county may charge no more than $50 a year for a bingo license, or a $50 application fee plus a monthly fee limited to its own bingo-related law enforcement costs
- Tribal casino bingo: not licensed by a city or county; the federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act puts bingo on Indian lands under tribal jurisdiction, subject to that Act. The $500 cap and the volunteer rule cover games held under local bingo ordinances, and each casino sets its own prizes and age rule
The state law is Penal Code section 326.5. The Attorney General’s Guide for Charities, dated June 2021, repeats the prize cap, the minors rule and the volunteer rule, and the California Gambling Control Commission confirms that charity bingo is regulated locally. Your city or county may add rules of its own; the City of Sacramento, for example, issues a one-year bingo permit for $50. Remote caller bingo, which used to link charity halls by video, has been repealed and ended in January 2026, though the Commission’s page still links some of the old sections.
California Bingo FAQ
Is bingo legal in California?
Yes. Charity bingo is legal where a city or county has passed a bingo ordinance and licensed the organization, under Penal Code section 326.5. Tribal casinos also run bingo, under federal Indian gaming law and tribal rules instead of a local license.
How old do you have to be to play bingo in California?
State law says minors may not take part in charity bingo, and the charity halls on this page that post an age, such as the Ontario Elks, the Santa Barbara Elks and Vanguard Bingo, say 18. Casinos set their own rule. Morongo, Viejas, Tachi Palace and Jackson Rancheria say 18 for bingo; Fantasy Springs, Table Mountain, Colusa and Twin Pine say 21. The other six casinos here do not post a bingo age, so ask when you call.
How much can you win at bingo in California?
At a charity game the prizes for each separate game cannot be worth more than $500. Casino bingo is not held under that law and posts its own prizes, such as twelve regular games paying $1,199 at Thunder Valley.
Do California casinos have bingo?
Fourteen tribal casinos on this page post bingo sessions, from Sycuan and Viejas near San Diego to Elk Valley in Crescent City. We did not find posted bingo sessions on the websites of several others, including Pechanga, Soboba and Chukchansi Gold. That is not proof they have none, so phone the casino and ask.
Can I play charity bingo online in California?
No. State law requires each player to be physically present where the game is held, and the Attorney General’s Guide for Charities says the games cannot be conducted online. Hand-held card-minding devices are allowed for players in the room; whether a hall offers them is up to the hall.
Where can I play bingo on a Sunday in California?
Two charity halls on this page play every Sunday: CRI-Help in North Hollywood at 1:00pm, and Vanguard Bingo in Santa Clara at 1:00pm and 6:30pm. The Placerville Elks play one Sunday a month. Eleven of the casino halls also list Sunday sessions, among them Morongo, Thunder Valley and Colusa.
Why call before I go?
There is no statewide charity bingo license in California, so each listing here rests on what the hall itself posts, and several of those pages carry no date. One lodge listing says there is no game on holidays, another lodge says its schedule can change without notice, and at least one casino says its bingo days can change. A short call saves a long drive.
