Bingo Hall Guide for Nunavut

Nunavut has no commercial bingo halls. Bingo here is community bingo: hamlets and local groups run radio bingo you play at home, plus sit-down games in community halls and at spring festivals. The games we found are in Iqaluit, Arviat, Cambridge Bay and Kugluktuk, with older leads in Rankin Inlet and Pangnirtung. Last checked: October 2026. Four of the 6 games have 2025 or 2026 news or hamlet sources behind them, and 2 are older leads. None posts a weekly schedule online. Nights tend to be announced on community radio and Facebook, so call the hamlet office before you head out.

Iqaluit and Baffin Region Bingo

Iqaluit’s best documented bingo of 2026 came during Toonik Tyme, the city’s spring festival, and we found no weekly game in Nunavut’s capital. Pangnirtung has a Friday radio bingo, though our only source for it carries no date.

Toonik Tyme Bingo (Iqaluit)

  • Where: Festival venues in Iqaluit. In 2026: the Aqsarniit hotel ballroom and the Elders Qammaq

    • The City of Iqaluit hosted a second bingo at the Elders Qammaq, where about 70 players competed for gift cards and camping gear, as Nunatsiaq News reported.
    • This is a festival event, not a weekly game. Toonik Tyme has held bingo in past years too, but the 2027 dates and venues are not out yet.

Pangnirtung Friday Radio Bingo

  • Where: At home, on the radio: 105.1 FM. Cards from the hamlet office in Pangnirtung

    • We could not find a working hamlet website or phone number, so ask locally at the hamlet office.

Rankin Inlet and Kivalliq Bingo

Arviat runs the best documented bingo in Nunavut: the hamlet runs every game in town and shares the money with local groups. Rankin Inlet’s hamlet runs a community radio station and has handled the town’s lottery licences, but its newest bingo news is from 2020.

    • The recreation department ran a trial bingo in April 2020. Its line is 867-645-2284.

Cambridge Bay and Kitikmeot Bingo

In Cambridge Bay, bingo was back for the season by October 2026, according to a local columnist. Kugluktuk has a community bingo that a longtime volunteer helped lead until late 2025. Neither posts days online.

We looked for games in Baker Lake, Igloolik, Gjoa Haven and other hamlets but found nothing posted online. That does not mean there is no bingo there. Local radio is the best place to hear about it.

Nunavut Bingo Rules

  • Who regulates it: the Consumer Affairs Division of the Government of Nunavut Department of Community Services, in Baker Lake (toll free 1-866-223-8139), under the Lotteries Act and the Lotteries Regulations
  • Territory or hamlet: Consumer Affairs licenses groups in 13 communities: Arctic Bay, Baker Lake, Clyde River, Grise Fiord, Igloolik, Iqaluit, Kimmirut, Pangnirtung, Pond Inlet, Qikiqtarjuaq, Resolute Bay, Sanirajak and Taloyoak. Groups elsewhere apply to their municipal government
  • Who can hold bingo: only groups registered under the Income Tax Act or the Societies Act, or deemed charitable or religious, with a charitable or religious purpose
  • Prize limits: no single prize may exceed $30,000 without the Minister’s approval; series licences paying more than $100,000 in total need an audited report; liquor cannot be a prize
  • How often: one bingo a week per licence holder at most; a series licence lasts up to six months, and carried-over jackpots must be played away when it ends
  • Minimum age: none fixed for bingo; an age limit can be set on the licence and must be posted. Nobody under 16 may buy or sell Nevada pull tickets
  • Radio bingo: allowed; the licence is kept at the radio station, and Nevada tickets sold with a radio bingo go only to card holders, on game day, before the broadcast
  • Alcohol: where liquor is served in the building, volunteers must keep it out of the bingo area

The Government of Nunavut explains licences on its lottery licence page, and the full rules are in the Lotteries Regulations. Iqaluit once licensed its own bingos under city bylaws and had public disputes over who could hold a licence in the 2000s. Today the territory lists Iqaluit as a community where Consumer Affairs issues the licences. We found no 2025 or 2026 report of a current bingo ban in Iqaluit. For licensing next door, see the Northwest Territories and Manitoba guides.
