Bingo for money is not legal in Utah. The state constitution says the Legislature shall not authorize any game of chance, lottery or gift enterprise, so Utah has no licensed charity bingo halls and no casino bingo rooms. What you will find are county and city senior centers in Salt Lake City, Ogden and Provo that list social bingo on their official calendars. Legal games run across the line in Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, Colorado and Arizona. Last checked: October 2026. We confirmed 11 games against the organizer’s own page, an official calendar or a 2026 news notice: 4 senior center games in Utah and 7 legal games in neighboring states. Three more are unconfirmed leads. Senior center calendars change month to month and the out of state games are a long drive, so a quick call before you go is wise.

Is Bingo Legal in Utah?
No, not for money. Article VI, Section 27 of the Utah Constitution reads: The Legislature shall not authorize any game of chance, lottery or gift enterprise under any pretense or for any purpose. So Utah has no bingo license for charities, churches, veterans posts or businesses, and no state agency that runs one.
The criminal code backs this up. Under Utah Code 76-9-1401, gambling means risking anything of value on a game or contest whose outcome is based on an element of chance. It also takes an understanding that someone will receive something of value. Any lottery or raffle counts as gambling too. Under Utah Code 76-9-1402, taking part in gambling, online gambling included, is a class B misdemeanor. A repeat offense is a class A misdemeanor. The Legislature tightened the definition again with H.B. 243, in effect since May 6, 2026. No Utah statute we found mentions free bingo by name. What we can tell you is that county and city senior centers list bingo on their official calendars, and those games are below.

Utah Bingo FAQ
Is bingo legal in Utah?
No, not for money. Article VI, Section 27 of the Utah Constitution bars the Legislature from authorizing any game of chance, lottery or gift enterprise. Utah Code 76-9-1402 makes taking part in gambling a class B misdemeanor, and Utah has no licensed charity bingo halls and no casino bingo.
Is free bingo allowed in Utah?
Utah law does not mention free bingo by name, and no official source we found says whether it is allowed. The definition of gambling in Utah Code 76-9-1401 turns on risking something of value on a game of chance. What we can tell you is that Salt Lake County, Ogden City and Provo City list bingo on their official senior center calendars as a social activity for older adults.
Where is the nearest legal bingo hall to Utah?
All bingo for money is across the state line from Utah. North on I-15, the Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel in Fort Hall, Idaho plays Wednesday to Sunday, and east on I-80, VFW Post 4280 in Evanston, Wyoming plays Friday nights. Southwest of St. George, the Virgin River Casino in Mesquite, Nevada plays every day, and from eastern and southern Utah there are games in Grand Junction and Towaoc, Colorado and Page, Arizona.
Can I play bingo online for money in Utah?
No. Utah Code 76-9-1402 makes participating in online gambling, by internet or mobile device, a class B misdemeanor, the same as other gambling in Utah. The law also says Utah will opt out if federal law ever lets states opt out of online gambling.
Where can I play bingo in Salt Lake City?
Not for money, since bingo for money is illegal in Utah. River’s Bend Senior Center at 1300 West 300 North lists social bingo every Monday and Wednesday at 12:30pm on its October 2026 calendar. South Salt Lake Senior Center at 2531 South 400 East plays at 10:30am on most Mondays and Wednesdays. Both are Salt Lake County centers for people 60 and over.
Where can I play bingo in Ogden?
Golden Hours Senior Recreation Center at 650 25th Street in Ogden, Utah lists social bingo every Monday from 12:30pm to 1:30pm and every Wednesday from 9:30am to 11:00am. Ogden City runs the center, and membership is a suggested $5 monthly donation. It is not bingo for money.
Where can I play bingo in Provo?
Provo Parks and Recreation runs senior bingo for ages 60 and over on Thursdays from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at the Provo Recreation Center, 320 W 500 N, in Provo, Utah. It is a social game, not bingo for money. It is free for Senior Pass holders and $3 for visitors, and Provo residents 60 and older can buy the pass for $10 a year. The city’s page carries no year, so call to confirm the Thursday game before your first visit.
Why call before I go?
Utah’s senior center bingo follows monthly calendars that skip days for holidays and special events, and Provo’s page carries no year. The legal games are all in other states, a long drive from Salt Lake City, and some are monthly or post no phone. A quick call or a look at the latest calendar saves a wasted trip.
