Bingo Hall Guide for South Dakota

South Dakota bingo comes in two kinds. Charity bingo is run by veterans’ posts, lodges, service clubs and other nonprofits, with no state license. The other kind is tribal casino bingo. Last checked: October 2026. This is a short list: we confirmed only 7 games, each against the organizer’s or casino’s own website, a visitors bureau calendar for 2026 or a September 2026 news report. They are in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Aberdeen and Watertown, plus tribal casinos near Sisseton, at Pine Ridge and on US Highway 83 at the Nebraska line. Another 14 are unconfirmed leads, and 11 of those come from an undated national directory whose entries look very old. We could not confirm a weekly game in Pierre, Mitchell, Yankton, Brookings, Huron, Spearfish or Sturgis. Few South Dakota groups post their bingo days online, so a quick call before a long drive is wise.

South Dakota Bingo at a Glance

South Dakota Bingo Rules

  • Who regulates it: no state license; before the first game the group gives 30 days’ written notice of the time and place to the governing body or designated official of the county or city where it will play, and the game can go ahead if that body does not pass a resolution objecting
  • Who can run it: a congressionally chartered veterans’ organization; a religious, charitable, educational or fraternal organization; a local civic, service or booster club; a political party; a volunteer fire department; a local industrial development corporation; or a political committee; the proceeds may not directly benefit any person
  • Prize limit: no prize over $2,000 at any one play of bingo
  • Pay and outside help: no outside company or professional may be hired to run the game, and no worker may be paid more than the state minimum wage per hour or $60, whichever is greater, for a bingo session, with exceptions for county fairs, the state fair and recognized civic celebrations
  • Electronic bingo: cards may be played on an electronic bingo device, but not one that takes or pays out coins, tokens, tickets or vouchers
  • Pull tabs: charitable and fraternal groups, civic clubs, volunteer fire departments and qualifying veterans’ groups may use a coin or bill operated pull-tab dispensing device, one per establishment, in no more than two establishments they do not own
  • Penalty: running bingo outside these conditions is a Class 2 misdemeanor

These rules come from South Dakota Codified Laws chapter 22-25, mainly section 22-25-25, which was last amended in 2026. That section sets no minimum age for players, so the hall’s own rule applies. Tribal casino bingo at Dakota Connection, Prairie Wind and Rosebud is not run under it, so the $2,000 limit does not apply there. To compare with other states, see bingo rules by state. For bingo rooms in casinos elsewhere, see our casino bingo halls page.

South Dakota Bingo FAQ

Where can I play bingo in South Dakota?

We could confirm only 7 South Dakota bingo games in October 2026, a short list. Four are charity games: Giving Hope Bingo in Sioux Falls (Wednesday to Sunday), the VFW in Rapid City (Tuesday), the Aberdeen Moose Lodge (Thursday) and the Watertown Lions Club at Cloud 9 (Monday). Tribal casino bingo runs at Dakota Connection near Sisseton, Prairie Wind at Pine Ridge and Rosebud Casino on US Highway 83. We could not confirm a weekly game in Pierre, Mitchell, Yankton, Brookings, Huron, Spearfish or Sturgis, so this is not a full list.

Is bingo legal in South Dakota?

Yes. Bingo is legal in South Dakota under SDCL 22-25-25 when a group named in the law runs it. Those include a veterans’ group, church, charity, fraternal lodge, civic or booster club or volunteer fire department. No person may profit directly, and no prize may top $2,000. The county or city must also get 30 days’ written notice and not object.

Who regulates bingo in South Dakota?

No state agency licenses charity bingo in South Dakota. The group running the game gives 30 days’ written notice to the county or city where it plays, and that local governing body can object by resolution. The rules are in South Dakota Codified Laws chapter 22-25.

What is the biggest bingo prize allowed in South Dakota?

South Dakota charity bingo may pay no more than $2,000 at any one play of bingo, under SDCL 22-25-25. Tribal casino bingo, such as Dakota Connection, Prairie Wind and Rosebud Casino, is not run under that law.

How old do you have to be to play bingo in South Dakota?

South Dakota’s bingo law, SDCL 22-25-25, sets no minimum age for players, so each hall sets its own rule. Giving Hope Bingo in Sioux Falls lets children 7 and older play in the main hall with a paying adult. Prairie Wind Casino limits its promotions to players 21 and older, so ask the hall before you bring a younger player.

Which South Dakota casinos have bingo?

Three tribal casinos in South Dakota post bingo sessions on their own sites. Dakota Connection near Sisseton plays Thursday to Sunday, and Rosebud Casino on US Highway 83 plays Friday to Monday with doors at 5:00pm. Prairie Wind at Pine Ridge posts Thursday to Saturday hours with doors at 5:30pm, but call to check the nights. Royal River, Dakota Sioux, Grand River, Lode Star and Fort Randall list no bingo hall on their own sites.

Where can I play bingo in Sioux Falls?

Giving Hope Bingo, 1605 West Burnside Street, is the only bingo game we could confirm in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It plays Wednesday to Sunday evenings, with doors at 5:00pm and the regular session at 7:05pm, plus Saturday afternoons with doors at 11:00am. Its phone number is 605-332-7311.

Where can I play bingo in Rapid City?

The VFW at 420 Main Street in Rapid City, South Dakota, plays bingo every Tuesday at 6:00pm, listed from June 30 to December 29, 2026. It is the only weekly game we could confirm in Rapid City and the Black Hills. The phone number is 605-545-2505.

Where can I play bingo in Aberdeen?

The Aberdeen Moose Lodge, 410 Ninth Ave. S.W. in Aberdeen, South Dakota, plays family bingo every Thursday. Doors open at 4:00pm and games start at 6:00pm. Packets start at $20, and the lodge’s phone number is 605-225-5185.

Why call before I go?

South Dakota keeps no state bingo license list, so there is no official record of who plays when. Many groups post their days only on a visitors bureau calendar or not at all. Games also move: the Watertown Lions switched to Monday nights at Cloud 9 in September 2026, and Prairie Wind’s own page gives two different sets of days. A short call saves a wasted trip.
