Bingo for money in Texas is charity bingo: churches, veterans posts, lodges, volunteer fire departments and other licensed nonprofits run it, mostly in commercial halls that several charities share. In 2025 the state moved bingo from the Texas Lottery Commission to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, and many hall websites still name the Lottery Commission. Last checked: October 2026. The 25 listings below were checked against each venue’s own website; 23 also appear in the state’s list of licensed bingo locations dated October 5, 2026, and the other two are tribal venues that are not state-licensed charity bingo. Five more halls whose session times we could not confirm are in a table further down, and since halls change sessions without much notice, phone before you drive.

Texas Bingo Rules
- Who regulates it: the Charitable Bingo Operations Division of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), under the Bingo Enabling Act, chapter 2001 of the Texas Occupations Code. The Texas Lottery Commission did this job until a 2025 law moved bingo to TDLR
- Who can run it: only a licensed organization: a religious society, a nonprofit that mainly supports medical research or treatment programs, a fraternal or veterans organization, a volunteer fire department or a volunteer emergency medical services provider. Most must have existed in Texas for at least three years, and each playing location is licensed separately
- Where it is allowed: only where local voters have approved it. The regulator says that covers all or part of 226 of the state’s 254 counties
- How often: a charity may hold no more than three bingo occasions a week under a regular license, and an occasion may last no more than six hours. Up to seven charities may share one premises, with no more than two occasions there in a day unless a third is held under a temporary license
- Prize limits: prizes are capped at $5,000 in total for a single bingo occasion. Pull-tab bingo and bingo games that award individual prizes of $50 or less do not count toward that cap, and a door prize may not be worth more than $250. The Act no longer sets a per-game limit
- Prize fee: the hall must collect a fee of five percent from anyone who wins a cash bingo prize of more than $5. Merchandise prizes are exempt
- Players: a person younger than 18 may not play unless a parent or guardian is with them. A hall may bar everyone under 18, or under an age it chooses, by posting a written notice, so rules on this page run from 18 and over in Arlington to children of 6 or 7 with a parent in Fort Worth and Houston
- Pull-tabs and computers: both are legal. A ticket sold from a pull-tab dispenser may not cost more than $1. An electronic card minder may track many cards but may not pick the numbers, take money or pay out a prize, and several halls say theirs play a maximum of 66 cards per game
The full law is the Bingo Enabling Act, and the regulator’s Play Bingo page has player information. The regulator still uses the txbingo.org website, and parts of it still carry the Texas Lottery name. Complaints about a hall must be made to the regulator in writing, and a form in English and Spanish is on that site. We read the Act itself but not the regulator’s detailed bingo rules, which may add limits of their own. Speaking Rock and Kickapoo Lucky Eagle are tribal venues, not state-licensed charity bingo, and they post their own prizes.
Texas Bingo FAQ
Is bingo legal in Texas?
Yes, as charity bingo. Licensed nonprofits run the games under the Bingo Enabling Act, and local voters must also have approved bingo, which the regulator says has happened in all or part of 226 of the 254 counties. Since 2025 the regulator has been the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, not the Texas Lottery Commission that many hall websites still name.
How much can you win at bingo in Texas?
A licensed hall may award up to $5,000 in total prizes on one bingo occasion. Pull-tab bingo and games with prizes of $50 or less sit outside that cap, and the Act no longer sets a per-game limit. Halls post their own game prizes; South Texas Bingo in Mission, for one, shows $250 to $1,000 a game.
How old do you have to be to play bingo in Texas?
State law says a person under 18 may play only when a parent or guardian is with them, and a hall can set a stricter rule by posting a notice. Noon & Pioneer Bingo in Arlington requires 18, Town East Bingo in Mesquite requires 18 except at special kids sessions, and Bingo Express in Lubbock admits no one under 15. Texas BingoPlex in Fort Worth allows children aged 6 and up with a parent.
Is there a tax on bingo winnings in Texas?
The hall must collect a five percent state prize fee on any cash bingo prize of more than $5. Merchandise prizes are exempt. That is the state fee only; this page does not cover federal income tax.
Are Texas bingo halls cash only?
Many halls on this page take cash only for bingo and keep an ATM on site. That is the hall’s own policy: the Bingo Enabling Act itself refers to debit card transactions. Bingo Express in Lubbock takes debit cards, and the tribal bingo hall at Kickapoo Lucky Eagle takes credit and debit cards.
Do Texas casinos have bingo?
Two tribal venues post scheduled bingo sessions, both from Thursday to Sunday: Speaking Rock in El Paso and Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino Hotel in Eagle Pass. Neither is state-licensed charity bingo. Naskila Casino near Livingston offers electronic bingo machines only and lists no bingo sessions.
Why call before I go?
Texas halls are shared by several charities, and session times and prices change without much notice. Some of the hall websites we checked are undated or carry footers as old as 2015, and a few give days without times or times without days. A short call confirms tonight’s start time and the day’s prices.
