How we check: we compare each game with the organizer’s own page or a published listing where one exists, and we say so when we could not confirm a detail. Last checked: October 2026. Official source: bingo licences page (aglc.ca). Seen a change? Tell us and we will fix it.
Alberta bingo is run by charities. A bingo association holds the hall licence for its member groups, and volunteers from one charity work each session alongside paid hall staff. Most halls play an afternoon session around noon and an evening session around 6:00pm, with paper cards or rented electronic units.
Last checked: October 2026. The 15 halls below were checked against each hall’s own website. Most are in and around Edmonton and Calgary, with one each in Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Cold Lake. Eight more come from directory lists only. Do Alberta Casinos Have Bingo?
Mostly no. Older listings name casinos such as Century, Elbow River, Cowboys and Pure Casino Yellowhead as bingo halls. The province’s casino finder lists slots, table games and VLTs at casinos, not bingo. Two cases are worth knowing. Grey Eagle Resort and Casino in Calgary had a bingo room, and it suspended play on November 30, 2025 for renovations expected to take about 18 months.
River Cree near Edmonton has no regular bingo, though it advertised a one-day ticketed Super Bingo for October 17.
Alberta Bingo Rules
- Who regulates it: Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) licenses both the halls and the charities
- Who runs the games: charities. In an association hall the volunteers must be members of the licensed charity and cannot be paid, while the caller, cashier and hall manager are paid, registered staff
- Two kinds of bingo: association bingo in a licensed hall that runs four or more days a week, and community bingo, which one charity runs in its own building up to three days a week
- Players: 18 or older. Minors cannot enter a hall that offers electronic daubers, and staff must check ID for anyone who looks under 25
- Small community bingos: a minor with an adult may play the regular games where the charity is small, cards cost $1 or less, prizes are $50 or less and the house rules allow it
- Electronic bingo: a handheld or tabletop unit can play up to 99 card faces in a game, and a hall can set a lower limit
- Play from home: halls can sell video bingo cards for a live stream, and those sales must stop 30 minutes before the event
AGLC explains the licences on its bingo licences page and its bingo halls page. It reports that Alberta charities earned $18.0 million from bingo in the year that ended March 31, 2025. For games in other provinces, see bingo across Canada by province.
