Virginia Bingo Questions
Is bingo legal in Virginia?
Yes. Charity bingo is legal for qualified nonprofits such as volunteer fire and rescue squads, veterans groups, fraternal lodges and religious and civic groups. The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) controls charitable gaming and publishes a monthly list of permitted sessions at vdacs.virginia.gov.
How old do you have to be to play bingo in Virginia?
Each hall sets its own rule. Lake Jackson and Pop’s Bingo World allow ages 12 and up, Sterling Ruritan allows 13 and up with an adult, and Boyce Volunteer Fire Company and Dunn Loring require 16. State law bars selling instant bingo cards to anyone under 18.
What time does bingo start in Virginia?
Most evening games start between 6:45 and 7:30 PM, with doors opening one to three hours earlier. Some halls add a Sunday afternoon session.
Can anyone go to a Virginia bingo hall?
Most fire company, church, Knights of Columbus and Ruritan halls are open to the public. A few lodges run sessions for members and guests only, and the state permit list marks those as “Social Quarters.” Call first if you are not sure.
